The eye-pleasing LED reading lights on the market may not yet be a fully-fledged product. At the Shanghai Lighting Technology and Application Trend Forum held last week, many experts gave suggestions: LEDs are now used to read table lamps.

Although the output value of LED last year only accounted for 3.4% of the total lighting output value, according to estimates of EU officials, LED lighting products will account for one-third of the existing lighting product market in 10 years. At present, LED products are mainly used for landscape lighting. The most typical example is that after the Bund lighting in Shanghai adopts LED light sources, the power consumption is reduced to one-seventh. According to statistics, Shanghai's lighting power consumption accounts for 23% of the total electricity consumption. Therefore, among energy-saving and emission-reduction, lighting energy-saving is ranked in the top five.
However, Dr. Lin Yandan, a member of the National Lighting Standardization Technical Committee and the Institute of Electric Light Sources at Fudan University, said that the current technology of LED lights as reading lamps is not as mature and the country has not introduced standards related to LED reading lamps. The LED light source has a common problem in the products of the previous years, that is, the luminous flux is insufficient, and the color temperature is high, and the color will be white and blue. Since last year, there have been some products with slightly improved quality, but the public should still wait for the introduction of national standards before they are bought, because such technologies will be relatively mature.
