iPad leader 2011 Tablet market

Barron's Financial Weekly reported that a number of analysts said that although each company's predictions about the total market for tablet computers will be very different, they all feel that the iPad will continue to occupy a high share of the market.

Citigroup predicts that the market for tablet computers will reach 35 million units next year, while iPad sales will reach 26 million units, with a share of almost 75%, which is roughly the same as the current iPod series share in the digital music player market. The report also said that next year the PC market capacity is about 400 million units, but if there is no competition from the tablet, PC sales should also increase by 11 million.

The analysis report from the FBR capital market believes that iPad sales will reach 4 million units in the next year, while all other manufacturers have a total of about 30 million tablet computers. With 2.5 tablet computers sold, PC sales will drop by one, so the PC market will be affected by 28 million tablet computers.

Digitimes Taiwan is more optimistic about the tablet market, saying that Apple plans to produce 70 million iPads next year, and other manufacturers will also contribute 30 million flat-panel printers. The Gartner report also stated that the global PC sales in the last quarter was the lowest in the past for many years, and the big reason was that the statistics put the iPad outside the PC market.

Overall, the total market for tablet PCs forecasted by various analysts in 2011 is between 30 million and 100 million units, while iPad’s forecast market share is between 57% and 75%.
