Atom netbook platform is not in a hurry to upgrade in the fourth quarter

Although the AMD Brazos APU convergence platform is popular in the Internet, performance and functionality are also stronger than Intel Atom, but the latter does not seem to be anxious, the third generation of the new platform "Cedar Trail" will wait until the fourth quarter of this year roll out.

Cedar Trail platform is still positioned in netbooks and entry-level desktops, including processor codename Cedarview, manufacturing process upgrade to 32nm, lower power consumption, integrated graphics core also upgrade support for DX10.1, and to join high-definition video decoder, support for blue acceleration In addition, there are higher operating frequencies, better DDR3 memory controllers, richer digital output display interfaces, and more.

In fact, the Atom processor has been extremely limited in frequency since its release in 2008, and Cedarview is expected to achieve a breakthrough in the end, but the exact extent is still unknown.

Another component chipset of the new platform will still use the current NM10, which can facilitate the transition of the manufacturer to the new platform, but the downside is that there will not be any new features.

Obviously, the new Atom platform will have all-round enhancements in video playback, decoding, and output. It is more suitable for audio and video entertainment, but the integrated graphics core support for DX10.1 is not too advanced. AMD APU still lags behind.
