China's super-computing world is invincible. Tianhe II, launched in 2013, has become the fastest supercomputer in the world with a floating point speed of 33.86 petaflops per second.
Now the latest report from Xinhua News Agency stated that relying on the “Tianhe-1†team, the development of a new generation of China’s super-calculated “Tianhe III†has started.
The report mentioned that Liu Guangming, director of the National Super Calculating Center in Tianjin, disclosed that the development of a new generation of supercomputer prototypes in China has been started and is expected to be completed by the end of this year to early 2018.
In addition, Liu Guangming also emphasized that they will work in conjunction with the National University of Defense Technology. According to the plan, the floating point calculation capacity of Tianhe-3 will reach the 18th power of 10, which is 200 times that of Tianhe-1.
Some people had previously suspected that the supercomputer was idle most of the time. To this, Liu Guangming stated that China’s first petascale supercomputer “Tianhe No. 1†deployed in the center currently has more than 1,400 online tasks each day, and is in saturation operation. State, this is a business scale that is hard to reach for the European and American national supercomputers.
