The role of vehicle communication technology in intelligent transportation systems

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is an effective integration of advanced information technology, data communication transmission technology, electronic sensing technology, electronic control technology and computer processing technology into the entire transportation management system. A comprehensive, accurate and efficient integrated transportation and management system that functions in a wide range and in all directions.

The intelligent transportation system is based on networked information and communication technology to achieve the optimization of traffic management and the effective use of roads, thereby improving the safety, comfort and operational efficiency of the road.

According to reports, in the concept of Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV), Japan has summarized the important driving support systems required by ITS to include the following aspects:

· Support system to prevent collision of obstacles in front

· Prevent entry into corners dangerous speed support system

·Brake and use workshop distance control ACC (full speed domain control) system

·Prevent out the lane support system

·Maintenance line support device

· Prevent collision of vehicles around the dead angle obstacle system

·Light Follower System (AFS)

· Collision-predicted damage reduction system;

·Pedestrian injury reduction and airbag system

·Dleeking alarm device

·All seat belts use advisory device

·Back side and side information providing devices

·Emergency brake information providing device

· Night pedestrian information system

The construction of the above system requires various sensors for road environment and vehicle condition detection as well as various control devices for information provision, alarm and operational support. In addition, the telematics communication system (TelemaTIcs) associated with the ASV road traffic and communication information system must meet two communication needs: 1. Coordination with road information; 2. Coordination with the communication system. Therefore, car-centric information and communication technology, advanced driving control systems and environmental identification systems are the next hot spots in the development of automotive electronics. One of the core technologies is advanced wireless communication technology.

This paper mainly introduces the technical personnel of China's automotive electronics, semiconductor and communication industries to the role of advanced in-vehicle wireless communication technology in promoting the development of intelligent transportation systems, thus providing reference for the technical upgrading of China's automotive electronics industry.
