EU cancels renewable energy price subsidies

The professional legal media MLex recently reported that the European Commission has removed the clause “the relevant standard for allowance of electricity price subsidies” in the National Subsidy Bill for Energy Projects, and replaced it with encouraging competitive bids between enterprises, which is in line with the one proposed in the guideline of last December. The main cause of the controversy is that Germany’s “Renewable Energy Law” allows power plants to charge consumers for increased costs due to the use of renewable energy, and energy-intensive companies can waive this surcharge.
