China's cloud computing industry standards brewing

The Shanghai Cloud Computing Technology and Industrial Development Forum held in Shanghai yesterday sent out information: China has initiated the formulation of relevant standards for the cloud computing industry and actively participated in the formulation of international standards.

As a new business computing model, cloud computing will drive the transformation and upgrading of the entire information industry chain. Since last year, Shanghai has implemented the "Cloud Plan" and strives to cultivate 10 cloud computing technologies and service companies with sales exceeding 100 million yuan by 2012, and build 10 cloud computing application demonstration platforms for urban management and industrial development. Promoting 100 software and information service companies to transform themselves into "cloud service" enterprises; drive the city's information service industry with an additional operating income of 100 billion yuan, and train and introduce 1,000 high-end talents in the cloud computing industry.

IDC, an international authoritative organization, predicts that by 2014, approximately 50% of the world's storage data will be placed on the “Common Cloud”. On the other hand, many terminology related to cloud computing, technical interfaces, etc. are still “speaking different words”. Different companies adopt different technical solutions, resulting in a large number of data and services that cannot be transferred and shared across company boundaries. Cloud computing application services. This is not only a problem facing Shanghai, but also a common problem facing China and even the international cloud computing industry.

At present, the international standards for cloud computing are in the process of being formulated. At the same time as participating in the National Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the relevant universities and colleges in China, they are also working on formulating China's cloud computing standards. According to Dr. Wang Jieping of the Institute, China's cloud computing standards will cover infrastructure, key technologies and products, evaluation, operations, and security evaluation. It will cover all aspects from hardware and software to commercial application models. Among them, the two standard research topics of "Distributed Relational Database Service Interface Specification" and "Overall New Network Operating System General Technical Requirements" have been formally approved, and there are also five items for preparation.

Experts emphasized that cloud computing services are ultimately user-oriented. The formulation of standards cannot be separated from the summary and analysis of practical cases. Industry insiders called for the development of cloud computing standards to improve openness, actively adopt feedback from cloud computing service providers and users, and encourage more industry players to participate.
