U.S. ultraviolet (UV) LED products have a life expectancy exceeding 10,000 hours

Sensor Electronics Technology Inc (SETi), an LED manufacturer based in Columbia, South Carolina, United States, has continued to improve its production process and recently demonstrated its UV Ultra-low UV (UV) LED product with a lifetime of more than 10,000 hours. The method for predicting the LED life is to measure several batches of products according to statistical principles. After the LED package is tested in a windowed TO-39 metal glass gauge, the average output power is 0.8mW. The emitted light has a wavelength of 280 nm±5 nm.

The life analysis was performed according to SETi's standard program: At room temperature (about 23°C), 20 mA DC was used to drive the LED without heat sink or heat treatment. After about 2000 hours of testing, the power output was reduced to 50% of the initial power ( L50). According to the test results, UVTOP275 has a lifetime of more than 10,000 hours, far exceeding Other conventional UV light sources.

SETi's LED light wave range is from 240nm to 360nm, and its products have passed ISO9001 quality system certification. It is an international leading LED manufacturer with a band below 365nm. Although SETi does not publish the maximum lifetime of its products in the UVTOP product specification, the UVTOP275 is expected to have a life expectancy of approximately 5000 hours under L50 conditions, and SETi is still developing and testing LED products with a longer lifetime.
