Radeon HD 6990 official specifications leaked

About AMD dual-core flagship card Radeon HD 6990 news broke out in the past two days, following the official photos, demo preview exposure, today's Turkish website Dominator directly released the so-called Radeon HD 6990 official presentation slide shots.

According to the information provided in these pictures, Radeon HD 6990 will carry two Cayman GPUs (HD 6970), a total of 3072 stream processing units, the core frequency of 830MHz, each GPU with 2GB GDDR5 memory total 4GB, memory frequency 1250MHz (GDDR5 equivalent 5GHz). Its standby power consumption is 37W, "typical game power consumption" is as high as 350W, "PowerTune" maximum power consumption has reached 375W even more.

The horror is that Radeon HD 6990 seems to have an OC overclocking version with the core frequency raised to 880MHz and the memory frequency unchanged. But only this one, its typical game power consumption will reach 415W, PowerTune maximum power consumption comes to 450W.

What's more, under such exaggerated power consumption, AMD has reserved space for overclocking HD 6990. According to the slide show, the upper limit of the HD 6990 core frequency is above 900 MHz, and the equivalent memory frequency limit is 6 GHz.

AMD provides 4+2 phase PWM power for each GPU for the HD 6990, and PowerTune power control technology is designed for such monsters with power consumption above 300W, which can guarantee safe and high-speed operation of various game applications.

In terms of performance, AMD's official test data showed that the HD 6990 overclocked version fully outperformed the GeForce GTX 580 in the DX9/10/11 test, with an average lead of 67%, and some projects even reached 110%, compared to the standard HD 6990.
