July 15, 2004... LEDs Combine Lumileds High-Brightness Technology and Agilents Design Expertise for Automotive, Mobile Phone and Lighting Markets
PALO ALTO and SAN JOSE, California USA -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Lumileds Lighting today announced an agreement to collaborateon a new series of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The mid-power range deviceswill target the automotive, Mobile phone and lighting markets, andcomplement the high-power Luxeon devices offered by Lumileds and thelower-power devices from Agilent. Lumileds will provide high-brightness LEDchips and technology; Agilent will contribute design, development and systemintegration expertise, including its patented manufacturing techniques.
This agreement is a win for Agilent, for Lumileds and for our customers, said Young Sohn, president of Agilents Semiconductor Products Group. Agilent will have access to new applications and customers for our LEDline, Lumileds will be the exclusive provider of LED chips for the Newseries of mid-power products, and our customers will benefit from newproducts with exciting technology from two LED leaders.

The first products from the collaboration are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2004. They will be sold by Agilent, distributed byFuture Electronics and use LED chips from Lumileds.
