Smarter and more precise Germany launches glare-free intelligent adaptive LED headlights

Recently, Mercedes-Benz officially announced a new technology called Smart Pixel LED Head lights, which is further upgraded based on Mercedes-Benz's existing geometric multi-beam LED headlights (MULTIBEAM LED). Future Mercedes models will be smarter when driving at night.

At present, Mercedes-Benz's main multi-beam LED headlights (MULTIBEAM LED) have 84 independently controllable LED lighting units. The new technology will reduce this number to three, but there are 1024 in each LED lighting unit. In this way, the new smart pixel LED headlights will be able to illuminate the road ahead more precisely.

This precision is reflected in the fact that when the vehicle is driving to a corner, the intelligent pixel headlights can adjust the position to illuminate the dead angle on both sides of the road surface with the help of the new sensor, so that the driver can see a wider area in the front bend. When the vehicle is in the car, the new headlights will automatically match the beam, ensuring that the beam does not cause the driver to dazzle. In addition, the headlights are also capable of proactively extending the illumination distance when the vehicle is traveling at a high speed.

Osram, a supplier of intelligent pixel LED headlights, is working with Daimler, Infineon and other companies for a three-and-a-half-year cooperation project, and Mercedes-Benz has begun practical road testing of new headlight technology and is working on it. The technology is assembled on new models.
